The Porsche 917K ("Kurzheck" or short-tail) is an iconic endurance race car that secured Porsche’s first overall 24 Hours of Le Mans victories in 1970 and 1971. Famous for its 4.5L–4.9L flat-12 engine, iconic Gulf Oil livery, and role in Steve McQueen's 1971 film Le Mans, it remains one of the most dominant and recognizable sports cars in history.
