Every safety feature in your current car — airbags, ABS, ESP, seatbelt pretensioners — was first tested in the S-Class before it became standard equipment. Since 1954, the S-Class has been Mercedes's rolling R&D lab for the entire automotive world. The current generation has a rear-axle steering system that turns the back wheels in the opposite direction at low speed to reduce the turning circle. It's longer than some studio apartments.
