India's homegrown off-road icon, the Thar has been Mahindra's cultural statement since the 1970s — the SUV that young India took up mountains and through rivers before the concept of lifestyle SUVs existed here. The current generation, launched in 2020, was so well-received that waiting periods stretched to over a year. It has a proper ladder frame, 4x4 system, and is regularly filmed doing things that its warranty probably doesn't cover.
